Rhodes in Outfits

Hello & welcome to a very photograph-heavy post of ootd’s from my trip to Rhodes in Greece this October. The weather was lovely – around 25-30 degrees, which was perfect for me and my pasty British complexion but I had brought a mixture of clothes with me really. Does anybody else just end up wearing the same thing over and over when they’re on holiday, as I think I lived in cullottes? Most of the items were purchased in the summer time, although the shops still have the same or very similar items in still so I have tried to list everything. Just some ideas incase you were visiting Greece at this time of year. Enjoy 🙂

Black Cullottes – New Look £12.99

Burgundy Bardot Top – New Look £15.99

Shades – New Look £7.99

‘Camera’ style bag – New Look £8 (sale)

Trainers – Topshop £12 (sale)

Black long sleeve stretchy top – Zara £9.99

Back pack – New Look £24.99

Denim midi skirt with belt – Primark £12

Sandals – Asos £11 (sale)

Layered gold necklce – H&M £9.99

Nude bodysuit – Asos £9.99

Nude pink cullottes – New Look £12.99

Gladiator sandals – 30 euro purchased in Greece as I had a blister!

P.S. All photos were taken on my Huawei phone camera 🙂

Simple & Spicy Meat-Free Recipes

Hola! Once again I am writing this on a Sunday morning (hangover free, might I add) and today’s post is inspired by my go-to recipes that I have basically been living off of recently, along with a few other things. Before we start, I should just say that I am not actually a vegetarian, although I do cut out meat where possible because when I do eat meat, it tends to be very unhealthy choices such as burgers and pepperoni pizza- aside from this, I do actually prefer Quorn a lot of the time. So here are two meals that I make out of convenience as cooking is not something I massively enjoy, but they are also super tasty whilst remaining fairly healthy too!

#1 Spicy Quorn Stir Fry

  • Selection of veggies; spring onion, beansprouts, sweetcorn, frozen peas, mushrooms, peppers
  • Choice of meat-alternative; soya meatballs or quorn chicken pieces
  • Seasoning; chili flakes, garlic, light soy sauce or sweet chili
  • Rice or thin ribbon noodles

I usually cook with a fry light spray oil or coconut oil, grill or boil the quorn/soya and just throw it all into the mini wok!

#2 Indian-Inspired Fritters

  • Vegetable selection; spring onion, sweetcorn, frozen peas, peppers
  • Seasoning; chili and curry powder, salt and black pepper
  • Peeled potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • Small amount of butter for the potato and whole meal flour
  • Cheese of your choice (I used a little bit of red leicester)

Again, I just use oil and fry until quite crispy but I’m sure they would be fine baked, too. These fritters are convenient in the fact that you can just make a batch up and store in the fridge and also go with basically anything, especially poached eggs or a salad.

Huawei- Honor 9

Hello, hello! Just a quick little post reviewing the new Huawei Honor 9 in terms of; 1) switching from being a Samsung user, 2) how well it performs for ‘phone-tography’.

Related image
It comes in this lovely, shiny blue colour and sits in the hand comfortably.

So after having a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for around 2 years, it was safe to say that I was in desperate need of an upgrade! It was between the Samsung S7/8 and the Huawei after having a look at the phones in the Three store and assessing the quality of camera as best I could. Like a lot of people, I had never really heard much about the Huawei make and was sceptical of it. I also loved my Samsung. However! I was going through around 30GB/month, making the 30GB Samsung option very expensive at around £60/month! Wayyyy too much for me when I was used to paying a measly £20 for unlimited for the past two years- and so I considered the Huawei Honor 9 which was brand new in the shops that week.

After doing some reseach myself, I have realised that they are actually very decent phones and can rival any of the leading phones on the market, particularly for the value for money aspect. These phones tend to be cheaper for the same deals, simply because they are not very well known to the majority, although I am very happy with my purchase and glad that I took a chance!

Not going to lie- the most important element of the phone to me was the camera. As someone that loves to take photographs, I find myself lugging a digital camera around with me in my bag quite often and so I needed something that I could capture good quality snaps, at my convenience. Obviously I went and tested the camera out as soon as I could so here are a few examples of the quality outdoors at the sea front;

The camera comes with some extra features too, such as moving pictures and automatic background blur in portrait mode.

I have had the phone around 3 weeks now and have only been able to find one phone case on Ebay to protect it from getting scratched in my bag and slipping out of my hand etc. and the phone shops don’t even sell them as far as I’m aware. Similarly, when I needed a spare charging lead I found out that there are two different versions of the lead and the gaming/electrical shops didn’t even sell them!

Aside from this, I am one very happy snapper with my Huawei and would recommend to anybody looking for something a little different to the more popular choices!

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think if you have this phone too (as I don’t know anybody else with one, ha!)

Highstreet Haul; May 2017

Hello again! Here are a few items I purchased this month from high street stores from several cities in the UK around the time of my birthday earlier this month, which you can read here.

Black Ripped Skinny Jeans- New Look £35.99

‘Ripped Knee Skinny Shaper Jeans’ as they’re called on the website. They come in a variety of styles and colours and are the more premium option. Comparing them with the high waisted disco ‘Hallie’ jeans that I usually go for, I think they keep their colour for longer and the material is slightly thicker so I think these might be my new favourite ‘go-to’ jeans.

Western Belt- River Island £10

White Flare Sleeve Top- H&M £17.99

I think they have this in more than one colour but I chose the white, which I think will be great for my holidays later in the year and the summer season here in the UK as it is sheer and has a lace insert at the back (which also makes me want to get my tattoo corrected!).

Pink Metallic Biker Jacket- New Look £39.99

Okay so, I love all things metallic at the minute and actually purchased a metallic leather bag whie I was away too, also from New Look, which I unfortatley deleted the photos of, but you can check it out on my instagram if you’re interested. Anyway, the material of this jacket is SO soft and confortable to wear. I purchased a size 14 which is a size above my usual and I always do this with biker jackets as I hate feeling restricted and stuffed- up if you know what I mean! The colour is amazing and actually goes with quite a lot of things that I already have and makes me feel rather summery, which is rare for me as I seem to live in black & white!

Blue and White Striped Shirt- H&M £22.99 (I think)

This shirt actually goes down to my thighs but I specifically purchased this because of the length so that I could tie it in a knot at the front. I like versatile piece because it could be worn for work/ formal occasion as well as doubling up as a geat summer piece when worn like this below. One little downside, the creasing is quite annoying but I think that comes with the territory of being a blousy/shirt type person!

Black Lace-Up Vest- H&M £7.99

Simple, good quality to for the price and goes with anything!

Gingham Top- Primark £12.99 (or there abouts!)

Everyone that asked about this top could not believe that it was from Primark as it has that sort of Top Shop-py sort of feel to it. Very good material for the price and I’m not really too bothered about what is ”on-trend” as I just buy what I like, but this top is literally bang on for this spring/summer. With cold shoulders and a tie front, I think it makes it a little more dressy and could be worn both day and night.

Limited Edition Croc Effect Boots- River Island £38 (above)

Small Heel Caged Sandals- New Look £22.99 (below)

Bag- Stadavarius £7.99

This bag is literally huge when it is filled and can fit SO much in! New travel bag I’m thinking…

Bravura London for Facial Scarring.

Heyyy, I thought I would let you know my first impressions on the skin company ‘Bravura London’ that specializes in treatments such as chemical peel solutions. This brand was recommended to me when I asked if anybody had any tips to get rid of facial scarring that has built up over the past eight years or so for me personally (photos below with and with and without makeup). As you can see, I need more than a little exfoliation! I had never heard of Bravura at first and then after some research on their Facebook page and the website that I will link below, it was not hard to find many good reviews, ‘before and after’ photos, as well as a whole bunch of celebrities that can testify the benefits to using these products. It’s fair to say that I was quickly persuaded and purchased two bottles of the acids; glycolic (2%) and salicylic (10%) and an application brush. Coming to a total of just over £20, I thought this was simply amazing value for money if they actually work, and I have previously paid £100 for six sessions of chemical peels and I believe that this is the same product they used but in a smaller concentrate.

So after reading through the instructions and advice provided with the products, I have alternated between the two chemicals every other day and have repeated this 3 times so far, concentrating on the areas with the deepest scars for now. The liquid resembles a watery gel which is easy to apply and is pain free except a little tingle in certain areas, which is just a very slight itchy sensation. I haven’t experienced any after effects except a tiny patch of dry skin which didn’t even show under my makeup and although I’ve only used the products a handful of times, I can already see a small difference in my skin so I will be definitely be continuing with my routine. So far, so good for Bravura London and hopefully this will be the solution that will give me the confidence to go out without any foundation on once in a while! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the products and what you think?

A ‘Beauty-ful’ Christmas; NYX & Other Picks

Hello! I realise that I’m a little slow on the uptake since we’re almost half way through January but I thought I may as well share a few updates/reviews on some beauty gifts that I got for Christmas since I was going to to another NYX haul post anyway…

Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit; ‘Diaphane’
Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick; ‘Sandstorm’ & ‘Soft-Spoken’
#4 / #7
Dark, Bold & Smokey brush set
‘Almond’ roll-on shimmer
Dewy finish setting spray / ‘Sex Bom’ eye shadow pallette
Dark, Bold & Smokey brush set

As of yet I haven’t had a chance to use the ‘Sex Bomb’ or ‘Nude on Nude’ eye shadow palettes properly but I literally LOVE everything that I have tried so far! The roll on eye shimmer is the quickest, easiest product to apply to your eyes, ever. It take zero effort (which is a god send as I’m not the best at doing make-up to start with) and the best thing is that it looks amazing either as a subtle day-time look or built up with other products for a heavier, more glamorous eye. I tend to just roll and dab with my finger when I’m in a hurry or use the fattest brush (shown on the far right) to pat and blend, easy, easy, easy. I also love the ‘almond’ colour and intend to purchase more of these in the near future!

The ‘dewy’ setting spray seems to be working great for me as I’m quite active at the minute and don’t really top up my make-up when I’m working so it helps that it stays in place for longer- although if you’re after a real dewy finish, I would not recommend this. I was dubious at first as I would have personally chosen the matte if it wasn’t a gift, due to my oily skin, but it really doesn’t seem to make a difference in that respect.

I actually chose the shades of the suede lip creams myself  and surprise, surprise, they are two fairly neutral shades to add to my collection (not planning to stop this pattern anytime soon either). The pigments are true to what they look like in the tube and again, I love this type of product as they aren’t sticky like the glosses and glide on easily. One little negative is that they need to fully dry otherwise they just slide off when you’re drinking that coffee on a morning.

If you’ve never tried a tangle teaser brush, you’re missing a trick. This particular one by ‘star’, which I believe you can pick up at hair and beauty wholesalers (although you may need a trade card in some cases) is so gentle on my hair even when it’s been in a messy bun and needs a good sorting out. I am still getting used to using the wand on my short hair, not just this one but curling tools in general- if anybody has any tips for styling short hair with a ‘waver’ wand, please share! However, this one is easy to use as far as curling wands go as it has very good heat and safety settings. I was lucky enough to get both of my favourite perfumes for Christmas also, Dior’s ‘Poison Girl’ and YSL’s ‘Black Opium’, although I also received an  extra one which is a variation of the poison variety; ‘Pure Poison’. The first two are very sweet just how I like them and the last is a little more musky which is always nice to change with. The Calvin Klien set came with a thong, boxers and a sports bra and they are just so comfortable but just to warn- these are quite small fitting as I am a size 12 and my sister was advised to buy these in L/XL and they fit nicely so I would at least go for the size up! Last but certainly not least, I’m not going to lie that I was a little bit chuffed when I got two new diaries as I absolutely love being organised, planning, writing and making lists (explains why I chose to do my degree in events management!).

Thanks for reading, feel free to let me know what you think if you got any of this stuff too!

A Sunday in January; Beach, Dog walking & OOTD

Hi! Since I had the day off work yesterday (Sunday) and the weather was unusually sunny, it would have been rude not to take my dog to the beach, although I was still surprised to see that the place was covered in other dog walkers who had the same idea. I still wrapped up obviously but after 10 minutes I realised I needn’t have bothered!

Puffer jacket- New Look £39.99

Scarf- Top Shop £14.99

Top and jeans- New Look (purchased a while ago)

Converse- Schuh

Bag- New Look £19.99

After having a walk along the beach and trying to get Neo used to the water (he wasn’t having any of it) we headed for a Minchellas for a hot chocolate. From there we headed to the cliff area and Gypsies Green which is also a great place to let your dog run around off the lead as there is a huge area of greenery in between the cliff edges and the road leading to Marsden! Here’s a couple of snaps & thanks for reading.
