Rhodes in Outfits

Hello & welcome to a very photograph-heavy post of ootd’s from my trip to Rhodes in Greece this October. The weather was lovely – around 25-30 degrees, which was perfect for me and my pasty British complexion but I had brought a mixture of clothes with me really. Does anybody else just end up wearing the same thing over and over when they’re on holiday as I think I lived in cullottes? Most of the items were purchased in the summer time, although the shops still have the same or very similar items in still so I have tried to list everything. Just some ideas incase you were visiting Greece at this time of year & I will also be posting a seperate, more detailed review of my time there. Enjoy 🙂

Simple & Spicy Meat-Free Recipes

Hola! Once again I am writing this on a Sunday morning (hangover free, might I add) and today’s post is inspired by my go-to recipes that I have basically been living off of recently, along with a few other things. Before we start, I should just say that I am not actually a vegetarian, although I do cut out meat where possible because when I do eat meat, it tends to be very unhealthy choices such as burgers and pepperoni pizza- aside from this, I do actually prefer Quorn a lot of the time. So here are two meals that I make out of convenience as cooking is not something I massively enjoy, but they are also super tasty whilst remaining fairly healthy too!

#1 Spicy Quorn Stir Fry

  • Selection of veggies; spring onion, beansprouts, sweetcorn, frozen peas, mushrooms, peppers
  • Choice of meat-alternative; soya meatballs or quorn chicken pieces
  • Seasoning; chili flakes, garlic, light soy sauce or sweet chili
  • Rice or thin ribbon noodles

I usually cook with a fry light spray oil or coconut oil, grill or boil the quorn/soya and just throw it all into the mini wok!

#2 Indian-Inspired Fritters

  • Vegetable selection; spring onion, sweetcorn, frozen peas, peppers
  • Seasoning; chili and curry powder, salt and black pepper
  • Peeled potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • Small amount of butter for the potato and whole meal flour
  • Cheese of your choice (I used a little bit of red leicester)

Again, I just use oil and fry until quite crispy but I’m sure they would be fine baked, too. These fritters are convenient in the fact that you can just make a batch up and store in the fridge and also go with basically anything, especially poached eggs or a salad.

Huawei- Honor 9

Hello, hello! Just a quick little post reviewing the new Huawei Honor 9 in terms of; 1) switching from being a Samsung user, 2) how well it performs for ‘phone-tography’.

Related image
It comes in this amazing, shiny blue colour and sits in the hand quite nicely!

So after having a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for around 2 years, it was safe to say that I was in desperate need of an upgrade! It was between the Samsung S7/8 and the Huawei after having a look at the phones in the Three store and assessing the quality of camera as best I could. Like a lot of people, I had never really heard much about the Huawei make was sceptical of it and I also loved my Samsung. However! I was going through around 30GB/month, making the 30GB Samsung option very expensive at around £60/month! Wayyyy too much for me when I was used to paying a measly £20 for unlimited for the past two years- and so I considered the Huawei Honor 9 which was brand new in the shops that week.

After doing some reseach myself, I have realised that they are actually very decent phones and can rival any of the leading phones on the market, particularly for the value for money aspect. These phones tend to be cheaper for the same deals, simply because they are not very well known to the majority, although I am very happy with my purchase and glad that I took a chance!

Not going to lie- the most important element of the phone to me was the camera. As someone that loves to take photographs, I find myself lugging a digital camera around with me in my bag quite often and so I needed something that I could capture good quality snaps, at my convenience. Obviously I went and tested the camera out as soon as I could so here are a few examples of the quality outdoors at the sea front;

The camera comes with some extra features too such as moving pictures and automatic background blur in portrait mode.

I have had the phone around 3 weeks now and have only been able to find one phone case on Ebay to protect it from getting scratched in my bag and slipping out of my hand etc. and the phone shops don’t even sell them as far as I’m aware. Similarly, when I needed a spare charging lead I found out that there are two different versions of the lead and the gaming/electrical shops didn’t even sell them!

Aside from this, I am one very happy snapper with my Huawei and would recommend to anybody looking for something a little different to the more mainstream choices!

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think if you have this phone too (as I don’t know anybody else with one, ha!)

Highstreet Haul; May 2017

Hello again! Here are a few items I purchased this month from high street stores from several cities in the UK around the time of my birthday earlier this month, which you can read here.

Black Ripped Skinny Jeans- New Look £35.99

‘Ripped Knee Skinny Shaper Jeans’ as they’re called on the website. They come in a variety of styles and colours and are the more premium option. Comparing them with the high waisted disco ‘Hallie’ jeans that I usually go for, I think they keep their colour for longer and the material is slightly thicker so I think these might be my new favourite ‘go-to’ jeans.

Western Belt- River Island £10

White Flare Sleeve Top- H&M £17.99

I think they have this in more than one colour but I chose the white, which I think will be great for my holidays later in the year and the summer season here in the UK as it is sheer and has a lace insert at the back (which also makes me want to get my tattoo corrected!).

Pink Metallic Biker Jacket- New Look £39.99

Okay so, I love all things metallic at the minute and actually purchased a metallic leather bag whie I was away too, also from New Look, which I unfortatley deleted the photos of, but you can check it out on my instagram if you’re interested. Anyway, the material of this jacket is SO soft and confortable to wear. I purchased a size 14 which is a size above my usual and I always do this with biker jackets as I hate feeling restricted and stuffed- up if you know what I mean! The colour is amazing and actually goes with quite a lot of things that I already have and makes me feel rather summery, which is rare for me as I seem to live in black & white!

Blue and White Striped Shirt- H&M £22.99 (I think)

This shirt actually goes down to my thighs but I specifically purchased this because of the length so that I could tie it in a knot at the front. I like versatile piece because it could be worn for work/ formal occasion as well as doubling up as a geat summer piece when worn like this below. One little downside, the creasing is quite annoying but I think that comes with the territory of being a blousy/shirt type person!

Black Lace-Up Vest- H&M £7.99

Simple, good quality to for the price and goes with anything!

Gingham Top- Primark £12.99 (or there abouts!)

Everyone that asked about this top could not believe that it was from Primark as it has that sort of Top Shop-py sort of feel to it. Very good material for the price and I’m not really too bothered about what is ”on-trend” as I just buy what I like, but this top is literally bang on for this spring/summer. With cold shoulders and a tie front, I think it makes it a little more dressy and could be worn both day and night.

Limited Edition Croc Effect Boots- River Island £38 (above)

Small Heel Caged Sandals- New Look £22.99 (below)

Bag- Stadavarius £7.99

This bag is literally huge when it is filled and can fit SO much in! New travel bag I’m thinking…

Thanks for reading as always!

City Travelling & OOTD’s

Hello! So last week I turned 25, travelled to some cities I’ve never been to and also accepted a new job…well they do say that good things come in 3’s, right? I just thought I’d share the experience in case you were thinking of going or something, as well as a peek of the outfits I purhcased/wore along the way. In my previous posts I think my OOTD’s have consisted of New Look taking up the majority of my outfits, however since I am moving on from the company I will also say bye bye to my half price discount as well, meaning that I will probably be mixing up my brands a little more, haha!

It was just me and my sister, Tammy on the ‘National Holidays’ trip as I have made a ‘thing’ of going away for my birthdays since hitting my twenties (burying my head in the sand, basically) and this time we had four days to explore Chester and Liverpool, whilst staying in a hotel in Didsbury, Manchester. This all came as a bit of a surprise to be honest, as the website claimed that we would be staying in Liverpool and having an excursion to Chester but we had a good time all the same. Just beware if you are booking with National Holidays that sometimes it is all kept very much a mystery until you actually get there, especially if you have you heart set on somewhere in particular, but that being said- there pakacges are SO worth the money!

The highlights of the trip for me personally was;

  • the most amazing burger, fries & slaw I have ever had in my life at ‘Hickory’s Smokehouse’ in Chester (located on the river side next to the cruise boats)
  • Chester park, which was absolutley beautiful (even if I did get attacked by a squirell!)
  • Liverpool in general, I just love that city and all its culture

I actually put together my first YouTube vlog as well so instead of putting photos on here, you can have a little cringe at my video instead, haha! Thanks for reading/watching, let me know what you think!

Bravura London for Facial Scarring.

Heyyy, I thought I would let you know my first impressions on the skin company ‘Bravura London’ that specializes in treatments such as chemical peel solutions. This brand was recommended to me when I asked if anybody had any tips to get rid of facial scarring that has built up over the past eight years or so for me personally (photos below with and with and without makeup)- yep, I need more than a little exfoliation! I had never heard of Bravura at first and then after some research on their Facebook page and the website that I will link below, it was not hard to find many good reviews, ‘before and after’ photos, as well as a whole bunch of celebrities that can testify the benefits to using these products. It’s fair to say that I was quickly persuaded and purchased two bottles of the chemicals; glycolic (2%) and salicylic (10%) and an application brush. Coming to a total of just over £20, I thought this was simply amazing value for money if they actually work, and I have previously paid £100 for six sessions of chemical peels and I believe that this is the same product they used but in a smaller concentrate.

So after reading through the instructions and advice provided with the products, I have alternated between the two chemicals every other day and have repeated this 3 times so far, concentrating on the areas with the deepest scars for now. The liquid resembles a gel and is easy to apply and is pain free except a little tingle now and again in certain areas which is just a very slight itchy sensation. I haven’t experienced any after effects except a tiny patch of dry skin which didn’t even show under my makeup and although I’ve only used the products a handful of times, I can already see a small difference in my skin so I will be definitely be continuing with my routine. So far, so good for Bravura London and hopefully this will be the solution that will give me the confidence to go out without any foundation on once in a while! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the products and what you think?

Thanks for reading!

January Beach Walk & OOTD #2

Hellooo! Same beach in South Shields, different day (still a Sunday though) except the weather was cold, rainy and windy- although the dog thought it was still perfectly acceptable, of course.

Scarf- Top Shop

Jeans, Boots, Coat, Hat- New Look

Bag- H & M

(I do purchase the majority of my clothes at New Look since I work there!)

After stopping for a hot chocolate at Minchellas’ again (this is becoming a routine) we walked the length of the beach right through to Gypsies Green where I was parked near, which might I add, is free parking if you’re making this trip too.

Thanks for reading and here are a few more snaps!
